TeacherS of Excellence

The AETA Teachers of Excellence Awards recognize teachers at each schooling level (elementary, middle, secondary, and postsecondary) for excellence in their classrooms. 

 

Eligibility: Those considered for this award must be teachers in the state of Arizona, who are in good standing with their licensure and places of employment.  Upon receipt of this award, winners are expected to become AETA members, if they are not already.  

 

Provide the name of the nominee, email and school affiliation along with a paragraph describing why this nominee should be selected as the award recipient. Please provide specific examples of the nominee's excellence in their school.  

 

The winner will be recognized at the AETA  Annual Conference on Saturday, September 23rd, 2023.

Community literacy Award

The Community Literacy Award recognizes any individual, group, or organization for advancing literacy in Arizona's communities through the creation of special programming or events outside of K-12 schooling. 

 

Eligibility: Those considered for this award must have, in some way, advanced literacy in Arizona’s communities outside of K-12 schooling. Events, camps, programs, and organizations that charge students a fee to participate are not eligible for this award. In addition, this award does not recognize literacy research, literacy teaching, or volunteer hours worked for a literacy organization.

Provide the name of the nominee and contact email along with a paragraph describing why this nominee should be selected as the award recipient. Please provide specific examples of the nominee's literacy work in Arizona.

The winner will be recognized at the AETA  Annual Conference on Saturday, September 23rd, 2023.

AETa TEACHERS as writers contest

Poetry: A poem, spoken word poetry video, or song with lyrics.

Fiction: A short story, comic, film, or animated work. 

Future Teacher Essay (undergraduate students and pre-service teachers): A written essay or a video sharing reasons the person is entering the teaching profession.

Outstanding ELA Publication (graduate students and in-service teachers): An article or chapter (single author) published in 2022-2023 on any topic pertaining to English Language Arts teaching or research. Submit the entire publication as a PDF, and provide citation information if not visible.

Prizes include 2023 AETA Conference registration and a year of membership in the AETA organization!
